I know some of you already love the luxurious softness of Minky fabric but others may be left thinking “Minky? Huh?” Minky is 100% polyester fabric that is soft and silky to the touch, thus the name: it feels like “mink”.
Minky fabric is commonly used in baby blankets and accessories, blankets, bath robes and handmade stuffed critters.
Minky is different from faux fur which is a type of textile fabric fashioned to simulate genuine animal fur. It is known as a pile fabric and is typically made from polymeric fibers that are processed, dyed, and cut to match a specific fur texture and colour. Faux fur can have a rougher feel more like hair Minky Faux Fur is 100% polyester made to replicate fur with the smooth silky texture of minky.
